Job Description

Plan prioritize organize supervise and forecast the activities of the Benefits Team in the administration and delivery of benefit program services and general office support. Ensure compliance with federal state and organizational policies procedures and regulations that govern benefits administration.

How You Will Contribute

  • Benefit Program Oversight: Supervise staff in the administration of health and life insurance flexible spending accounts retirement programs disability case management (including Workers Compensation) leave programs and FMLA. Lead staff in delivering written and in-person communications to employees and dependents including new employee orientations and open enrollment sessions. Monitor and resolve issues involving benefit eligibility claims handling and application for benefits. Escalate issues as necessary. Attend meetings as required.

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel matters and share protected information only with individuals who have an official need to know.

  • Program & Office Support: Supervise staff providing assistance to HR consultants. Support talent acquisition activities including documentation reference checks background checks and candidate communications. Coordinate administrative support such as temporary clerical staffing through approved contracts.

  • Retirement Administration: Counsel employees on benefit programs related to retirement planning. Communicate retirement procedures health coverage options costs and timelines. Ensure accuracy of retirement processing VNAV data and related documentation. Track applications and prepare required cost letters for purchase of prior service.

  • Transactions & Records Management: Ensure documentation and authorizations are complete prior to submitting transaction data. Maintain proper filing of records in personnel files. Meet payroll and HR deadlines. Complete leave certifications for separations or transfers. Coordinate with HR staff and management to resolve issues.

  • Understanding of supervisory practices including hiring performance management and employee development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and manage database reports and spreadsheets.

  • Supervisory experience overseeing benefits staff and HR service delivery.

  • Knowledge of disability benefits return-to-work processes and case management.

  • Knowledge of HR benefits programs (health insurance retirement FMLA ADA Workers Compensation HIPAA).

  • Experience in payroll coordination and benefits administration.

  • Skills in transaction processing system operations and security administration.

  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software.

Additional Considerations

  • Education training or experience in Human Resources Business Administration Public Administration or related field.

  • Experience in core HR functions such as Employee Relations Benefits or Training.

  • Experience with workflow applications and electronic document management.

  • Supervisory experience in HR services.

  • Professional certifications (SHRM-CP SHRM-SCP PHR SPHR or CBP).

  • Valid drivers license for travel to meetings or training.
