JOB TITLE: Education Coordinator North Area FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the overall quality direction coordination and management of Head Start education content area specifics in the Central Area to include centers in Hillsboro Meridian and Mexia. The Education Coordinator must identify plan and implement objectives delineated in the annual plan. Other: Reviewing Individual Developmental Plans for each enrolled child monitoring the on-going assessment process and ensuring that all classroom education staff is competent in their abilities to interact appropriately with the children.

ANNUAL PRE-SERVICE TRAINING IS MANDATORY
EDUCATION: BA or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or in a related field with experience in teaching preschool children. A degree in a field related to early childhood education is defined as a college degree (AA or higher) with a program of study which includes six or more courses in early childhood education and/or child development. Or A CDA credential for preschool age children with the stipulation that at least an Associates degree that meets the requirements listed above be achieved within 5 years of employment.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 2 years employment in a supervisory position with emphasis on staff training and development in an early childhood setting.
SKILLS: Strong leadership management and organizational skills as well as a thorough understanding of developmentally appropriate practice. The Education Coordinator must have the ability to communicate with develop and motivate employees to create a positive work environment. Must be flexible and have well-developed written verbal and interpersonal skills. Must be able to conduct training programs maintain records prepare reports and clearly understand written or verbal instruction. Ability to organize manage and control workflow. Ability to work effectively with individuals from various ethnic socioeconomic educational and cultural backgrounds. Ability to identify assimilate comprehend and solve critical elements of various situations (initiate solutions without constant supervision).
OTHER: Professional manner and attire. No record of a conviction which would contraindicate employment. Must have a valid Class C Drivers License and a reliable vehicle with current vehicle liability insurance; insurable under HCCAAs vehicle insurance policy. Initial Head Start physical screening. Must comply with all HCCAA Policies and maintain confidentiality and courtesy in all phases of agency operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise up to three Teacher/Directors and/or Site Director and Family Service staff that work those centers.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Must be able to operate a computer and other office machines such as fax calculator copier and telephone.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sitting standing bending reaching and driving. May require lifting up to 40 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers fax machines calculators telephones and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to analyze the effectiveness of center operations and choose the most effective course of action for the Head Start program at any given point in time. Must handle new and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Personal maturity is an important attribute. Must be able to resolve problems handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must have the ability to listen objectively to people perceive the real problem and assist in bringing issues to a successful conclusion. Must relate and interact with employees at all levels within the Agency. Bilingual skills are encouraged.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasionally called upon to work outside of the normal 8-5 working day or work odd schedules. Regularly travel to centers located in designated area (at least 60% of the time) while school is in session or to meetings as required.
