Summary of This Role
Researches technical accounting standards and develops polices to support compliance with regulatory standards. Provides global technical accounting support to finance and business leaders. Partners with other corporate departments such as Tax Legal Corporate Accounting and various financial reporting teams in the preparation of the companys SEC filings (10-Q/10-K) and disclosures. Prepares written technical accounting and financial reporting position papers for review by management and external auditors; including SEC reporting share-based compensation revenue recognition segment reporting impairment equity-method investees acquisitions and discontinued operations. Reviews and assesses third-party valuation of fair value of investments and serves as a liaison for the companys investments through third-party private equity firms. Participates in forecasting and budgeting activities for the business to include reviewing actual as well as projecting budget and forecasted amounts for share-based payments and private equity investments. Supports development and communication of monthly financial reports for use by the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller to members of the executive team.
What Part Will You Play
- Leads accounting-related research as well as qualitative and quantitative analysis projects associated with potential acquisitions investments mergers divestitures financings capital projects and other proposed transactions requiring review by the Executive Review and Risk Committee and/or Board of Directors. Provides consulting services to operating units as required to assist in M&A research. Coordinates purchase price accounting for all successful acquisitions. Performs technical accounting analysis and determine appropriate accounting and disclosure treatment; prepare and present supporting memorandum to document and explain technical accounting conclusions.
- As the SME stays current in all accounting standards keeps the organization informed of relevant changes drafts comments on behalf of the company to regulatory bodies and creates tools to expand sharing of knowledge. Leads highly complex projects related to the adoption and timely implementation of new accounting procedures across all areas of the company in compliance with applicable accounting standards. Serves as a liaison for related accounting and financial activities and projects as well as for various Securities and Exchange Commission filing requirements including research of rules laws and regulations and peer reviews and monitoring the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies including FASB and PCAOB. Reviews contracts leases and other agreements and transactions to ensure all potential accounting issues are identified summarized and present findings to senior leaders in a timely manner. Research accounting literature and apply technical standards and analysis to complex or non-recurring business issues and transactions including acquisitions and dispositions. Ensures the company complies with applicable accounting standards by serving as a key US GAAP expert and knowledge sharing.
- Liaison with auditors other departments reporting units and countries to assist and support SEC reporting by drafting various sections including Notes and MD&A. Reviews external reporting documents (including Forms 8-K 10-K and 10-Q) and Board of Director materials for accuracy. Provide requested financial statements and documentation pertaining to accounting treatment for specific transactions to external auditors.
- Liaison for the companys investments through third-party private equity firm. Reviews and assesses third-party valuation of fair value of investments prepares and documents changes in fair value and coordinates timely receipt of documents and capital calls.
- Counsels Human Resources on the accounting for Executive Compensation and share-based payment awards (options and performance shares). Coordinates with external third-party to review and assess Black-Scholes and Monte Carlo calculations of stock options. Ensures all monthly activities related to share based payment awards are completed accurately and timely including monthly accounting entries and account reconciliations.
- Participates in forecasting and budgeting activities for the business to include reviewing actual as well as projecting budget and forecasted amounts for share-based payments and private equity investments.
Assists the financial reporting team with the monthly global consolidation maintaining effective internal controls accounting for certain non-operational legal entities and purchase price adjustments including the monthly cash flow reporting process. Assists the development and communication of monthly financial reports for use by the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller to members of the executive team.
