CBCs Entertainment Factual and Sports department is looking for a skilled and highly collaborative Video Producer to create vertical video content for CBC Gems social channels on TikTok and Meta.
The video producer will pitch create and edit short-form vertical videos from the CBC Gem collection as well as original content conceptualized by the CBC Gem social team.
The role primarily focuses on the production and editing of vertical videos for social channels but all team members are expected to watch entertainment titles and pitch content as well as shoot social content and produce that footage using video editing tools such as Premiere.
Strong Adobe Premiere skills are a must in this role with a keen interest in entertainment titles and social trends. A strong understanding of audience packaging pacing and high attention to detail is necessary for this position.
The successful candidate will also take part in creative brainstorms regularly pitch new ideas and keep track of current content formats on social media.
Rarely team members are expected to cover special events that may fall on evenings or weekends.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Create vertical video content including but not limited to:
Edit verticalize caption and package content for social media
Gather capture and edit content to meet departmental and wider social standards
Review maintain and contribute to publishing schedules and calendars
Make decisions on how content should be edited framed and adjusted for a social-first audience
Work collaboratively with producers to meet editing and content standards
Develop video content including researching conceptualizing ideas preparing briefs for external social teams to execute concepts developed by the team as well as editing of externally gathered material;
Participate in and provide thorough reviews of content for accuracy style and more;
Watch review and recommend content for posting from various entertainment titles that are available on CBC Gem;
Review app analytics and engagement as well as trends on app to contribute to daily discussions of audience behaviour and potential opportunities for content for the channels;
Work closely and collaboratively with producers app experts asset managers researchers and other departments to find and deliver content as needed;
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as necessary on content development;
Recommend and implement suggested tags keywords and posting elements such as TOV for all content;
Participate in team brainstorms and strategy development;
Book studios resources and equipment needed for original content shoots;
Attend shoots for original content including any video shooting lighting etc. that may be required;
Other duties as required including performing the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
University or college degree (or equivalent) combined with three or more years of practical experience;
Advanced skill with Adobe Creative Suite including Premiere Photoshop and more;
Advanced knowledge of TikTok and Meta audience behaviour trends and more;
Proven history of creating vertical video content for social audiences;
Experience using and knowledge of social best practices particularly in the area of entertainment content;
Technical knowledge of posting specifications on both Instagram and TikTok apps;
Familiarity with CBC-created TV shows documentary content and feature films is an asset;
The ability to contribute to the diversity of perspectives on the team with ideas that will help connect with and grow new audiences;
Strong knowledge and understanding of and/or connection to underrepresented communities across Canada.
