If you are looking for a rewarding career please consider the Correctional Officer I/PIN Desk opportunity with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits including health insurance paid vacation paid sick time paid holidays as well as retirement.
Responsibilities include overall monitoring of entrance/exit procedures building and grounds security and operate DCI terminal. Correctional Officers must tour assigned areas which will require periodically climbing stairs observing inmate activity in person and on closed circuit monitors.
This position must be willing to perform rescue functions to include CPR basic first aid physically removing people from dangerous areas and using firefighting equipment to include firehoses extinguishers and breathing apparatuses in the event of an emergency. Transport of offenders on approved departmental vehicles at any time day or night in any weather traffic or road conditions.
Employee must be able to work any shift including rotating fixed shift or split shift.
All shifts may include days nights weekends holidays and mandatory overtime as required.

The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration Compliance & Accreditation Comprehensive Health Services Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
Effective July 1 2025 candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. Documented experience communicating with offenders staff and members of the general public.
Proven experience in maintaining clear and concise records and reports.
