About the Role
As a Volunteer Disability Program Music Teacher you will support DPV Healths Centre-Based Disability Program in the Whittlesea LGA by leading engaging and interactive music sessions. Using instruments such as guitar keyboard percussion or vocals you will create a fun inclusive and therapeutic environment where participants can explore music express themselves and develop new skills.
You will work closely with Disability Instructors to integrate music into the Centre-Based Program supporting participants in achieving their NDIS goals through creative expression sensory stimulation and social interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Assist staff in setting up and packing up music-related activities.
Lead interactive music sessions tailored to participant abilities and interests.
Encourage and support participants in engaging with music dance and movement activities.
Work collaboratively with Disability Instructors to incorporate music into broader recreational and skill-building activities.
Support participants with individual communication strategies to enhance engagement and connection.
Maintain a respectful and inclusive approach in all interactions with participants and staff.
About You
To succeed in this role you will bring:
Ability to play a musical instrument (e.g. guitar keyboard percussion).
Experience in music performance teaching or facilitation (formal or informal).
Passion for using music as a tool for engagement and well-being.
Understanding of or willingness to learn about disability support and inclusive practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience empathy and the ability to adapt sessions to diverse needs.
Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

The Fine Print
Successful candidates will need to undergo a National Police Check and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination status.
A valid Working with Children Check and NDIS Check are required.
