Description

About the Role

As a Volunteer Disability Program Music Teacher you will support DPV Healths Centre-Based Disability Program in the Whittlesea LGA by leading engaging and interactive music sessions. Using instruments such as guitar keyboard percussion or vocals you will create a fun inclusive and therapeutic environment where participants can explore music express themselves and develop new skills.

You will work closely with Disability Instructors to integrate music into the Centre-Based Program supporting participants in achieving their NDIS goals through creative expression sensory stimulation and social interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist staff in setting up and packing up music-related activities.

  • Lead interactive music sessions tailored to participant abilities and interests.

  • Encourage and support participants in engaging with music dance and movement activities.

  • Work collaboratively with Disability Instructors to incorporate music into broader recreational and skill-building activities.

  • Support participants with individual communication strategies to enhance engagement and connection.

  • Maintain a respectful and inclusive approach in all interactions with participants and staff.



Skills And Experiences

About You

To succeed in this role you will bring:

  • Ability to play a musical instrument (e.g. guitar keyboard percussion).

  • Experience in music performance teaching or facilitation (formal or informal).

  • Passion for using music as a tool for engagement and well-being.

  • Understanding of or willingness to learn about disability support and inclusive practices.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Patience empathy and the ability to adapt sessions to diverse needs.

  • Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

  • Commitment to DPV Healths values and Excellent Care Framework.

The Fine Print

  • Successful candidates will need to undergo a National Police Check and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination status.
