Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is committed to protecting the public by providing safe and effective individualized services to youth who will become productive law-abiding citizens. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Training and Development Specialist to lead and support staff development initiatives across the agency. This role is essential to ensuring that employees are equipped with the knowledge skills and competencies needed to serve justice-involved youth effectively and safely. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in instructional design adult learning principles and a passion for workforce development in a mission-driven environment.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Design develop and deliver training programs for staff at all levels including onboarding compliance and professional development

  • Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and recommend targeted learning solutions

  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions using engaging interactive methods

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and adjust content based on feedback and performance metrics

  • Maintain accurate training records and ensure compliance with state and agency requirements

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts supervisors and leadership to align training with operational goals

  • Support certification programs continuing education and leadership development initiatives

  • Stay current with best practices in juvenile justice trauma-informed care and instructional technology

Appointment Type: Full-time Probational

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Training and Development Specialist 12 or 3.
