As the Senior Manager of Salesforce Solutions Engineering youll lead a dynamic cross-functional team of 15 developers and admins to design implement and optimize Salesforce systems that support nearly every part of our student journey. WGU is a nonprofit accredited online university serving over 150000 students nationwide. Our mission is to improve lives by expanding access to affordable workforce-relevant education. As a tech-forward institution we leverage platforms like Salesforce to reimagine how students engage with higher educationfrom recruitment through alumni success.
This is a hybrid role based in Salt Lake City UT requiring 4 days per week onsite and 1 day remote.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Own and evolve WGUs Salesforce platform strategy ensuring alignment with our digital transformation roadmap.
Identify opportunities for platform innovation that drive efficiency scalability and student success.
Team Management
Manage and mentor a team of 15 (7 admins 8 developers) fostering high performance collaboration and continuous growth.
Lead execution of high-impact projects like Forms Assembly migration and the Next Generation Learning Experience (NGLX).
Salesforce Architecture & Optimization
Oversee the implementation and optimization of Salesforce solutions including Education Cloud Marketing Cloud and Experience Cloud.
Ensure robust integrations with SIS LMS and third-party tools such as Mulesoft and Informatica.
Uphold data governance compliance and platform security standards (e.g. FERPA).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a strategic partner to Product Engineering Enrollment Student Services and Advancement.
Translate cross-departmental business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Governance Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Establish frameworks for change management user access and data integrity.
Support dashboard and report development to enable strategic decision-making across departments.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong architectural understanding of Salesforce and related tools.
Proven ability to coach and grow engineering talent.
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Confident navigating complex cross-functional relationships in a matrixed environment.
Strategic thinker and problem solver with a strong sense of ownership.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
10 years of progressive experience in Salesforce application development and leadership including:
5 years of experience leading technical teams
5 years of hands-on Salesforce development architecture or system administration
Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming (e.g. Java RESTful APIs XML).
Experience with Oracle or SQL.
Experience integrating third-party tools such as Mulesoft and Informatica.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in a relevant field.
Salesforce certifications (e.g. Admin Platform Developer Architect).
Experience in higher education edtech or mission-driven environments.
Familiarity with Education Cloud Marketing Cloud and Experience Cloud.

Position & Application Details
