The Certified Hand Occupational Therapist performs evaluation/re-evaluation develops a plan of care provides evidence-based treatment assesses data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patients needs. Combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure function and activity of the upper limb in order to specialize in the treatment and rehabilitation of the upper extremity (hand wrist elbow and shoulder girdle). Works closely with the patient family and members of a physician-led team in providing individualized patient treatment. Completes required documentation of care and appropriate billing consistent with professional guidelines. Engages in research education and quality initiatives in pursuit of excellence in the provision of care and develops and carries out a personal plan for professional growth. Duties require extensive standing and walking frequent reaching stooping bending kneeling and crouching. Requires heavy lifting pushing pulling and positioning/transferring patients.
Bachelors degree in occupational therapy from an accredited college or university required.
Additional Qualifications
An academic or professional doctorate degree is preferred (PhD DSc OTD).
License or Certification
Advanced Certification as a Hand Therapist (CHT) required. Current Arizona licensure as an Occupational Therapist. Current/Active Certification by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (CHT).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
