We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Logistics Operations Specialist to join our Supply Chain team. This position plays a critical role in managing logistics operations within SAP coordinating with third-party warehouses and transportation providers and ensuring efficient order fulfillment and inventory accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in SAP logistics modules strong knowledge of warehouse and transportation operations (including rail logistics) and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Order Management
- Create and process sales and stock transport orders in SAP.
- Generate and distribute shipping documentation (e.g. BOLs packing lists shipping labels).
- Coordinate order fulfillment activities with third-party logistics providers and warehouses.
Shipment Tracking & Coordination
- Monitor and troubleshoot the movement of shipments via multiple transportation modes including:
- Rail cars
- Bulk trucks
- General freight and materials
- Communicate with carriers suppliers and customers to ensure timely and accurate material movements across multiple transportation modes.
- Resolve delays or discrepancies and maintain up-to-date shipment records in SAP.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels at off-site warehouse locations.
- Conduct regular reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Support cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
Rail Car Operations
- Assist with scheduling tracking and managing rail car logistics.
- Coordinate with rail providers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of rail car availability usage and maintenance.
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate logistics and inventory reports using SAP and other systems.
- Analyze data to identify trends inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Support logistics-related continuous improvement initiatives.
SAP Expertise
- Serve as a subject matter expert for SAP distribution logistics and warehouse modules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve order processing issues coordinating with IT and other stakeholders.
- Develop test and maintain training materials and job aids to support internal SAP users.
Quality Control
- Develop and manage distribution-related documentation including job aids work instructions and training materials in line with quality standards.
- Investigate and resolve complaints using the companys quality system (ETQ).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelors degree in Logistics Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in logistics order processing or customer service within the distribution or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations freight processes and transportation regulations.
- Proficient in SAP and logistics software; skilled in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- Physical & Social Setting:
- Hybrid: A mix of office and remote work.
- Work Conditions:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment.
- Typical office environment with low to moderate noise levels.
