Who are we looking for

Were looking for an Assistant Director of Landscape Architecture to join our GHD Design team in Sydney.

The Assistant Director of Landscape Architecture is a dual-role position that encompasses leading Landscape Architect projects creative and technical aspects while providing support functions to the Director. This role requires a balance of design leadership project management and administrative proficiency to ensure the efficient operation of the Landscape Architecture team and the successful delivery of high-quality design solutions.

GHD Design is a global design company operating through the GHD network of studios and offices globally. This provides a unique opportunity to leverage the depth of our geographic reach while maintaining local knowledge infusion commitment and character.

Our local landscape architecture team has a focus on delivering innovative landscape designs which are site sensitive site-specific and create a sense of place which is in line with the client and communitys GHD Design landscape architecture team are focused on a strong portfolio of major transport infrastructure precinct revitalisation large scale public realm and public open space projects.

This diverse and exciting position will see you involved in:

  • Providing strategic leadership and design direction across multidisciplinary and landscape projects.
  • Leading the landscape designfor major infrastructure and development projects ensuring that landscape and sustainability considerations are integrated into the design process.
  • Developing design excellence across the landscape architecture portfolio.
  • Serving as project lead managing the day to day running of the landscape business.
  • Leading the development of landscape architectural design from masterplans right through to construction.
  • Fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture mentoring senior and junior staff whilst building and maintaining strong relationships with clients stakeholders and industry partners.

What would you bring to the team

  • A Bachelors degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design with 10 years of experience including leadership roles on complex large-scale projects.
  • An understanding of Australian planning policy and legislation
  • Experience in GIS AutoCAD and REVIT (desirable but not essential)
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership project delivery and client relationship management as well as strong report writing skills
  • A strategic mindset strong communication skills and a passion for design excellence.
  • A commitment to mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
