Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Teledyne FLIR is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician / Machinist to join our engineering team to work in the Surveillance Systems Division in Orlando FL. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with precision mechanical assembly supporting the development and fabrication of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical systems.
- Operate and program CNC machines including CNC mills and lathes using CAM software integrated with SolidWorks.
- Perform precision machining of components to tight tolerances using both manual and CNC equipment.
- Assemble precision mechanical systems including alignment and integration of opto-mechanical assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings 3D models and technical documentation to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturability and assembly processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety and quality standards.
- Proven experience with CAM programming preferably using SolidWorks CAM or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in operating CNC lathes and other machine tools.
- Strong background in precision mechanical assembly including use of hand tools torque drivers and alignment fixtures.
- Familiarity with opto-mechanical systems and cleanroom assembly practices is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a prototype or R&D environment.
- Knowledge of optical alignment techniques and handling of sensitive optical components.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Machining Mechanical Technology or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
