SENIOR TECHNICAL MANAGER - HANDS-ON AWS

The Senior Technical Manager hands-on AWS will lead a team of engineers across multiple functions including Cloud Engineering Cloud Operations Automation and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). This leader will be responsible for ensuring the reliability scalability and security of cloud-based services with a primary focus on AWS. The role involves leading setting strategic direction building and driving operational excellence across the cloud ecosystem.

- Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and develop a team of cloud engineers and SREs ensuring dedication and career growth.
- Define and implement the cloud strategy ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Cloud Engineering & Operations
- Lead all aspects of and be hands-on with the design deployment and management of AWS-based Amgen cloud platform.
- Ensure the availability performance and security of cloud services through automation and standard methodologies.
- Implement cost optimization strategies and handle cloud budgets effectively.
- Site Reliability & Automation
- Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform Ansible CloudFormation and CI/CD pipelines using the GitOps methodology.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis to minimize downtime and improve resiliency.
- Develop and carry out observability and monitoring strategies across Amgen cloud platform
- Security & Compliance
- Ensure cloud environments are aligned with industry standards
- Work closely with security teams to carry out IAM encryption and compliance standard methodologies.
- Partner & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with engineering security and business teams to define cloud requirements.
- Manage relationships with cloud service providers and third-party vendors to ensure optimal service delivery.

Must have skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering Data Science or a related field.
- 10-15 years of experience in Project Management with at least 8 years in AWS Cloud.
- Proven experience in handling cloud-based teams and operations at scale.
- Deep hands-on expertise in AWS services (EC2 RDS Lambda EKS IAM VPC etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.
- Experience in SRE principles including observability SLIs/SLOs and incident response.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native application deployment.
- Familiarity with high level network infrastructure and problem solving.
- Strategic thinking and planning.
- Strong decision-making abilities.
- Excellence in stakeholder management.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Team building and development.
- Change management expertise.
- Crisis management capabilities.
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
- A passion for applying technology to make a real-world impact.
- Fluency in English.
Good-to-Have skills:
- Experience with multi-cloud (Azure GCP) environments.
- Hands-on experience with FinOps for cost management.
- Exposure to Kubernetes (EKS) and service mesh architectures.
- Familiarity with AI-driven cloud automation and predictive monitoring.
- Familiarity with HPC DGX Cloud.
- ITIL or PMP Certification (for cloud governance & project management) (preferred)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (preferred)
