You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Asia Valuation Shared Services Centre (VSSC) is a centralized actuarial team serving Business Units (BUs) across the Asia Division. With team members located throughout the region VSSC delivers timely and accurate liability system solutions and analytics. Core services include the execution assembly and initial analysis of IFRS and local reserves sensitivities and capital calculations as well as the maintenance of valuation models and procedures.
Following the global adoption of IFRS 17 in 2023 VSSC has taken full ownership of the end-to-end IFRS 17 reporting process. This includes quarterly reporting to meet audit requirements and the implementation of prioritized actuarial system enhancements to ensure high-quality results.
As IFRS 17 Local Adoption progresses across Asia various gaps between local practices and policy standards have been identified by auditors. These gaps require targeted modelling and system enhancements.
This role reports to the Head of Valuation Production & Reporting Process and plays a critical part in directing and planning actuarial activities in ensuring actuarial systems comply with policy standards and local regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead the Actuarial system development to address the auditors consideration and review of key project priorities
Ensure timely delivery of local adoption solutions through coordination with BUs and other key stakeholders.
Champion the implementation and maintenance of valuation controls.
Build strong relationships and credibility with BU Valuation Actuaries Asia Chief Actuary and RAS.
Uphold the VSSC Service Level Agreement in all interactions and team leadership.
Exercise sound judgment in managing unexpected issues prioritizing tasks and balancing resources.
Demonstrate technical expertise and independently verify and reconcile actuarial outputs.
Serve as project manager for VSSC initiatives overseeing scope planning execution and communication.
Provide technical guidance to junior staff on actuarial concepts modelling financial reporting and technology.
Contribute to VSSC leadership goals driving process improvements and best practices in valuation reporting.
Provide proactive leadership and coaching to a team of actuarial analysts.
Allocate and monitor work to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
Make decisions on employment compensation performance appraisals and development.
Foster an innovative and high-performance team culture.
Required Qualifications:
Fellowship in a recognized international actuarial body with 7 years of experience.
Degree in Mathematics Computer Science Actuarial Science or a related field.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Composure under pressure with resilience and persistence in overcoming challenges.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate influence and negotiate effectively.
Results-driven able to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Commitment to customer service and quality.
Proven project management capabilities.
Demonstrated leadership in coaching and motivating teams.
Strong business acumen and ability to communicate complex actuarial concepts clearly.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Experience with Moodys Axis and Risk Integrity is an asset.
