ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Education and Care team is responsible for the delivery of innovative and educational programs across Councils 13 Education and Care Centres including long day care OOSH and Family Day Care.
The Centre Director - Family Day Care is responsible for undertaking the day to day operations including developing key relationship with staff children and their families service providers and the community.
This role will also be responsible for acting as the Nominated Supervisor and Educational Leader for the Cumberland Family Day Care service under the National Regulations and Law.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent approved by ACECQA
- Provisional or Proficient Teacher Accreditation with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and to maintain such accreditation as per NESA requirements (if applicable)
- Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
- Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
- Current First Aid Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
- Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
- Current class C drivers licence
- Approval as Nominated Supervisor (this is applied for after appointment to the position)

- Proven skills and ability as a leader of a professional team positive communication is paramount along with proven skills and ability in staff management and development
- Proficient knowledge and considerable understanding of computerised finance and education and care operating systems
- Ability to provide support assistance timely and systematic advice on all aspects of operational requirements and policy direction
- Ability to take personal responsibility for behaving in accordance with the organisations values and directions
- Proven knowledge and understanding of relevant frameworks relating to the service type

About this role:
- 1x term contract full-time position (maternity leave cover) up to 31 July 2026.
- Working 70 hours per fortnight Monday to Friday.
- Access to Councils 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
- Located at Councils Family Day Care (located at 74 Military Road Merrylands) and may be required to work across any of Councils work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 11 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1765.48 to $2030.30 per week plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
- Cumberland City Council has successfully been approved for funding under the Commonwealth Governments Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment Grant. This grant will provide an additional retention allowance to increase their wages in line with the federal Childrens Services Award 2010 and applies until 30 November 2026.
The payment of the Worker Retention Payment allowance is not a condition of employment with Council and is subject to the Worker Retention Payment allowance being fully funded by the Commonwealth Government. Should this retention allowance cease to be paid by the Commonwealth Government Council will also cease payment of the ECEC Worker Retention Payment Grant to staff.
