Womens Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ) is a for purpose community legal centre providing free legal and other social justice services to women. We specialise in the areas of family law domestic and family violence child protection and sexual assault through our counselling notes protect program.

About the Role
As part of the WLSQ Domestic Violence Unit/ Health Justice Partnership (DVU/HJP) team you will provide:
- Outreach legal services at nominated HJP Stakeholder sites;
- Legal advice and referrals in the areas of domestic violence family law and child protection through partnerships with various hospitals and health providers throughout the Greater Brisbane and Logan region;
- Legal advice task work case work and representation in the areas of family law domestic violence and child protection to clients assisted by our DVUs;
- Work closely with our casework social work and financial abuse prevention teams to provide holistic wrap around support to address legal and non-legal issues.
You will have access to guidance and support from a Supervising Solicitor and Legal Practice Director together with paralegals and a legal support officer who support the team.
To succeed in this role you will:
- Be admitted as a legal practitioner in Queensland and hold a current unrestricted practicing certificate;
- Have a minimum of three years of experience in family law particularly in parenting disputes domestic and family violence and child protection;
- Demonstrate strong communication time management and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities whilst still delivering results;
- Bring a trauma informed approach to your work;
- Be committed to ongoing professional development;
- Have experience drafting relevant court documents and managing family law and domestic violence files;
- Have experience in child support matters;
- Demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills including in crisis situations where client safety is at risk;
- Possess high-level knowledge of legal and non-legal referral pathways for women experiencing domestic violence and family law issues;
- Have a sound understanding of the gendered nature of domestic violence and legal/social issues affecting women; and
- Be committed to the mission and values of WLSQ and able to work within a feminist framework.
