Country Manager Malaysia Advisory & Consulting (Based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia)
KBR Advisory & Consulting is seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Country Manager to lead the setup and expansion of its Advisory & Consulting business in Malaysia. This role is pivotal in establishing a sustainable footprint in the region driving revenue growth and delivering high-impact consulting services across Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will be accountable for the Malaysia P&L responsible for building a high-performing team and ensuring delivery excellence across concept studies Pre-FEED and Transaction Advisory services.
Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the Director of KBR Consulting International the Country Manager will play a key role in shaping the regional strategy securing new business and delivering measurable outcomes aligned with KBRs global consulting vision.
Key Responsibilities
Business Setup & Growth
- Lead the establishment of KBRs Advisory & Consulting operations in Malaysia including operational and talent infrastructure.
- Develop and execute a 3-year business growth plan with clear milestones for revenue headcount and market penetration.
- Identify and pursue strategic opportunities across Southeast Asia with a focus on Malaysia Brunei Singapore and Indonesia
P&L Ownership & Financial Delivery
- Own the Malaysia P&L including budgeting forecasting and monthly performance tracking.
- Deliver annual revenue and margin targets with quarterly reviews and corrective action plans as needed.
- Monitor project profitability and ensure commercial viability of all engagements.
Project Origination & Delivery
- Originate and lead consulting projects from concept through Pre-FEED including technical and operational due diligence under Transaction Advisory.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality on-time and within-budget outcomes across all engagements.
- Implement project KPIs (e.g. client satisfaction delivery timelines budget adherence) and report monthly to regional leadership.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit onboard and develop a Malaysia-based consulting team with capabilities in energy transition infrastructure and technical advisory.
- Establish performance goals and development plans for team members with biannual reviews.
- Foster a collaborative high-performance culture aligned with KBRs global values.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients government agencies and industry stakeholders.
- Lead proposal development tender submissions and contract negotiations.
- Represent KBR at industry forums conferences and government engagements to enhance brand visibility.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in energy or infrastructure sectors with a focus on energy transition policy and financing.
- Proven track record in setting up and scaling consulting businesses ideally within Southeast Asia.
- Demonstrated success in managing P&L and delivering against financial targets.
- Experience leading projects from Concept to Pre-FEED and Transaction Advisory (technical and operational due diligence).
- Minimum 3 years of team leadership experience in a consulting or advisory environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills including engagement with C-suite G2G and G2B negotiations.
- Commercially savvy with strong financial literacy and business acumen.
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and ability to thrive in a sell-do model.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership style.
