We are seeking an experienced Naval Architect with strong expertise in specialty cargo securing structural analysis and heavy-lift engineering for multipurpose vessels (MPVs). The role will focus on structural assessment lashing design and the use of advanced engineering software to ensure safe compliant and cost-efficient operations. This position is ideal for candidates with a hands-on background in project cargo offshore transport or heavy-lift shipping.
Responsibilities
Perform hull and deck structure strength assessments including evaluation of hatch covers and above-deck stowage of heavy and project cargo.
Propose and design structural reinforcement and load-spreading solutions for specialty cargo securing.
Prepare and deliver technical documentation including:
Lashing & securing calculations (using DNV Lashcon or equivalent)
Stowage securing & dunnage plans
Heavy lifting & rigging plans
Structural analysis reports and drawings
Provide hands-on engineering support for project bids and vessel evaluation in collaboration with Business/ Chartering teams.
Liaise with Classification Societies Owners Charterers and Shippers to resolve disputes or technical queries on ship strength load spreading or cargo securing.
Use and apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (Femap/Nastran or equivalent) for structural simulation and validation of cargo securing solutions.
Continuously seek opportunities to optimize designs and reduce operational costs while maintaining safety and compliance.
Train and mentor junior engineers by sharing knowledge on cargo securing structural analysis and heavy-lift engineering best practices.
File update and maintain work database.
Job requirements
Appropriate qualification in Naval Architecture Marine Engineering or equivalent.
Proven experiences in project cargo heavy-lift or MPV operations with direct involvement in lashing and securing design.
Proficiency in Femap & Nastran (or similar FEA software) for structural analysis.
