Test Engineer I (TX) Early Career (2026 Starts)

As part of a small passionate and accomplished team of test engineers you will help drive rocket engines test operations to meet Blue Origins launch vehicle program requirements for various spaceflight systems. You will directly contribute to engine test operations by assisting with test planning and execution risk identification and mitigation hardware integration for test campaigns post-test inspections data review and engine performance analysis.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

*Van Horn Specific information*

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations the West Texas Site in Van Horn TX offers eligible employees additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employees ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn TX or travel to Van Horn from another Blue location a minimum of 50% of the time.

• Van Horn TX

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Aspects of applied test engineering including the design analysis and operation of test systems for testing fluid propulsion mechanical and electronic systems. The projects will include the integration of safety manufacturing operations materials and processes instrumentation test control systems and systems engineering.
• Analyzing test data to support requirements verification tasks.
• Directing integration of hardware into our test facilities.
• Conducting test planning risk assessments evaluation and mitigations test set up execution post-test data review and performance analysis.
• Developing test support software and equipment to improve test frequency and quality.
• Identify scope and resolve test-related problems.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in engineering discipline (aerospace mechanical or physics desired).
• Will have earned their degree within the last year and able to start by Fall 2026.
• Experience in a testing environment and in executing test procedures.
• Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work independently.
• Strong technical fundamentals in fluids and thermodynamics.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering standards technical requirements and engineering drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience that demonstrate development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.
• Ability to earn trust maintain positive and professional relationships and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
• Flexible and adaptable mindset.
• Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.

Desired:

• M.S. degree or higher in mechanical or aerospace engineering with experimental lab experience
• Propulsion test experience
• Experience designing fabricating or operating fluid systems
• Knowledge of instrumentation including pressure transducers thermocouples silicon diodes resistance temperature detectors and accelerometers.
• Operational understanding of engines and engine sub-components such as turbopumps combustion devices valves and other fluid components
• Hands-on experience with integrating test articles and sub-assemblies for test
• Familiarity with LabVIEW MATLAB Winplot or other control data acquisition and reduction software
• Familiarity with CAD applications (ProE or Creo preferred)

We are solving challenging new problems and we need people to represent a wide variety of perspectives. Experience in aerospace is not a requirement. We value broad academic and industry experiences such as Tech Oil & Gas Nuclear Automotive and more.
