What You Will Do:
As a Senior Design Engineer you will lead product development and certification activities for high-aesthetic customer-facing interior products. Youll work closely with Program Management customers internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely high-quality design solutions that meet specifications certification requirements and customer expectations.
- Providing bespoke product designs that are reliable high-quality and production ready.
- Leading design and certification activities for passenger cabin components.
- Creating 2D and 3D CAD designs (SolidWorks) managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and PDM systems.
- Preparing test solutions and supporting qualification testing documentation.
- Designing across multiple disciplines (moulding sheet metal machining cables PCB assemblies etc.).
- Supporting 3D printing prototyping and hands-on build activities.
- Applying knowledge of manufacturing and finishing techniques to optimise designs.
- Revising drawings and documentation based on peer customer and certification authority feedback.
- Providing progress updates highlighting risks and escalating issues as needed.
- Reviewing internal and external documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Attending internal/external meetings and occasional offsite travel as required.
What You Must Have:
To succeed in this role youll bring both technical expertise and a proactive solution-focused mindset.
- Degree HNC or HND in a suitable engineering subject.
- Demonstrated design experience in a regulated engineering environment (aerospace automotive marine or similar).
- High-level proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar CAD software).
- Strong understanding of an engineering office environment.
- Ability to work independently with limited information taking ownership to progress design and certification activities.
- Track record of delivering high-quality designs under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to engage across all levels of the business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel Word PowerPoint).
Experience We Value:
- Basic electronics understanding.
- An understanding of aircraft manufacturers qualification standards and related standards e.g. D6-36440 RTCA/DO-160 ABD0100.1.2 etc. Or experience within a Part-21J organisation.
