Cornerstones of Maine offers clinical internships and field practicum opportunities for doctoral and masters students in social work psychology and counseling psychology. The focus of this opportunity is advanced training and experience in direct clinical practice in a residential setting. Cornerstones of Maine is an accredited transitional living program for emerging adults (ages 18-28) with mental health challenges. Located in Biddeford Kennebunkport and Portland the focus of the program is helping young adults to successfully transition to independence.
Our Internship offers opportunities to be trained in:
The Internship utilizes a strengths-based and growth-oriented approach. The goal is to help interns achieve high professional standards by providing clear expectations meaningful direct service opportunities and excellent supervision and didactic training.
Interns receive one weekly individual and one weekly group supervision from a licensed full-time Cornerstones Psychotherapist. Group supervision provides the opportunity to receive support from peers and gain experience in professional case presentation. Supervision typically includes discussion of:

Cornerstones of Maine is a small residential treatment program designed to assist young adults (ages 18 to 28) in their journey to adulthood. We address the current need for therapeutic services for young adults who have significant potential but are struggling with mental health issues that are obstacles to their ability to live independently.
