We are seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to join the exciting development of next-generation Computing Products in Cedar Rapids IA. We are focused on applying this solution across a wide variety of Avionics products in safety-critical commercial and military applications.
We are looking for a strong leader with an action-oriented mindset who can evaluate individual and project performance while anticipating changes. This role will involve a high level of collaboration to build and enhance development teams while operating with integrity. The ability to assemble a high-fidelity bid is also critical to this role with the established skill/discipline of capturing high-quality scope & ROADS in written form.
What YOU will do:
- Serve as the engineering project leader for programs developing Avionics products including coordinating hardware software and firmware scope to meet program commitments.
- Serve as engineering project leader supplying project management and technical direction during all program phases including pursuit bidding planning execution and sustainment.
- Ensure consistency with Collins Aerospace technical consistent engineering processes.
- Ensure compliance with program and product requirements as reflected in design plans.
- Lead and mentor a wide range of entry-level to highly experienced engineers.
- Demonstrate technical ability to process platforms and the associated technologies.
- Maintain awareness of key technologies and the companys competitive position
- Team up with a high-performance software team collaborating with fellow Software Engineers Team Leads Project Engineer Software Architects and other teams.
- Opportunity to serve as a Subject Matter Expert within the Software discipline and team.
- Responsible for providing direct support to stakeholders to answer questions and solve technical issues.

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience
- Demonstrated systems and/or software engineering experience on complex avionics programs.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Familiar with standard systems and software development practices (V Model).
- Experience with military and commercial systems/software certification (e.g. DO-178 DO-297 etc.).
- 5 years of leading engineering teams preferably small engineering teams (5-10 engineers) and experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.

The salary range for this role is 124000 USD - 250000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
