Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our ATS Japan accounting team. In this pivotal role you will be responsible for driving timely and accurate financial reporting ensuring compliance with local and global standards (GAAP US GAAP SOX) and providing key financial insights to support strategic business decisions. You will also play a key role in the successful implementation of systems and process improvements working cross-functionally to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the monthly financial close process ensuring accuracy and timely submission of financial reports and deliverables.
Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations ensuring compliance and prompt resolution of outstanding items.
Provide cost and margin analysis including periodic standard cost reviews and ad hoc profitability assessments.
Oversee fixed asset accounting and working capital components (inventory accounts payable accounts receivable).
Ensure robust internal controls are in place and adhered to supporting SOX and local statutory compliance.
Deliver insightful financial analysis to support decision-making trend identification and business strategy.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support pricing proposals cost estimations and financial inputs for operational initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes systems and reporting capabilities.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting/finance experience with proven leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with complex financial data analysis.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
Fluent in Japanese with professional-level English proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with HFM/Hyperion and ERP systems (Epicor a strong plus).
Solid understanding of US GAAP local GAAP and SOX compliance.
CPA certification and/or experience in a public accounting/audit firm highly desirable.
