Job Description

Dates of assignment: 2025-2026 school year (annual appointment)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a valid New York State Certification in any Core Area (7-12) or New York State Certification in Special Education (7-12)

ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide academic support to students (will be providing support before during and after school)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teachers staff and peers
  • Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and instruct students in developing problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated evidence of incorporating differentiated instruction
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective communication skills both written and oral
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective interpersonal skills with students faculty support staff and parents
  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of NYS Standards
  • Demonstrated evidence of a knowledge of technology and its application with regard to student learning
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proven ability to effectively organize and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proficiency with curriculum adaptation and modification
  • Demonstrated evidence of an ability to reflect and contemplate on ones teaching allowing for growth and excellence.

ESSENTIAL CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide support and assistance to students across academic content areas.
  2. Assist instructional staff with implementing and enhancing the Districts curriculum and programs.
  3. Plan and work collaboratively with teachers in a variety of settings including one-on-one small groups grade level meetings study groups workshops and faculty/staff meetings.
  4. Contribute to and support a District-wide effort to further develop a reflective learning community that engages in research-based high-yield instructional practices.
  5. Serve as a resource to classroom special area teachers and staff who support students.
  6. Assist in the gathering and analysis of data to identify student-focused goal(s) based on areas of need; Maintain records and provide updates as required.
  7. Debrief and provide feedback on instruction/student learning to facilitate teacher reflection and to identify/set goals and next steps;
  8. Build the capacity of teachers to support and facilitate the learning of their colleagues;
  9. Facilitate parent information sessions and/or develop parent resources;
  10. Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth through participation in professional learning.
  11. Collaborate with building and district administration.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned and attend required trainings.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Experience with supporting students in a variety of settings
  • Experience teaching in a learning lab setting

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

SALARY: $47200-$53700 Per WTA Contract

Additionally 1/200 for up to 10 days between last student day and first student day. Other days and/or additional time as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction. This is a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) position.

WORK CALENDAR: The teacher work year plus up to ten days.
