Job Description
Cape Henry Collegiate is seeking a skilled part-time (morning) dance instructor with a strong emphasis on choreography to serve in a long-term sub role from January through mid-May.
The primary responsibility will be creating and teaching original dance routines primarily for beginner-level students. The ideal candidate must be experienced in developing choreography that is accessible yet engaging catering to varying skill levels. A key aspect of the role is the ability to identify and highlight each students unique strengths in movement encouraging their growth and confidence through personalized choreography.
The dance instructor will...
- Follow lesson plans designed by the current dance staff.
- Teach rehearse and offer feedback on choreography in preparation for the spring dance showcase.
- Provide instruction in various dance styles ensuring a well-rounded dance education experience.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage student participation and creativity in dance activities.
- Implement strategies to address individual learning needs.
- Collaborate with students to showcase their talents and build confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students parents and colleagues.
Background and Experience
- Bachelors degree in dance education or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience as a dance instructor with a focus on teaching students of various age groups.
- Knowledge of different dance styles and techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
