Job Description
School Cleaner and Custodian
2025 - 2026 School Year

A School Cleaner and Custodian is a role that has an extensive impact on our community. The impact of your role creates a fun and enjoyable learning environment for children to grow and to thrive. By maintaining a clean sanitary and safe environment at PSJSTEM you provide all classrooms hallways office areas restrooms and other facilities with a spotless and conducive space for learning.

Compensation

Hourly $19 - $21 per hour based on a candidates experience and skills in relation to the job description and in support of the mission of the school.Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity internal salary ranges market data applicants skills and prior relevant experience degrees and certifications.
This position is not benefits eligible.

Five hours per day 25 hours per week 40 weeks per year approximately August 15 through June 25 annually.

Flexible schedule before 6:30 am or after 4:00 pm is preferred but we can be very flexible with the start time.

As a Catholic school Gospel values such as prayer and a belief in a loving God are essential to how our school operates. It is not a requirement for this position to be Catholic however in order for our school to thrive everyone needs to have an understanding of and a willingness to embody all that it means to be part of a Catholic community.
Attention to Detail: Ability to notice and clean even the smallest areas of dirt or disorder.
Time Management: Efficiently managing time to complete tasks within a scheduled timeframe.
Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting standing bending and reaching for extended periods.
Reliability: Consistent and dependable in attendance and work performance.
Communication: Basic ability to understand and follow instructions; effectively reporting any issues or concerns.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to maintain the schools cleanliness.
Serve as a positive and contributing community member.

The School Cleaner and Custodian job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

All responsibilities are to be in line with the Catholic mission of the Parish the school and state licensing.
Ensure government regulations are met
Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Family Handbook Faculty Handbook and Staff Handbook.

Sweep mop dust and vacuum floors; clean desks and chairs; empty trash bins.
Sanitize toilets and sinks; replenish toilet paper soap and paper towels.
Dust surfaces and equipment; clean and sanitize shared spaces.
Handle spills and accidents; perform deep cleaning during school holidays.
Ensure cleaning tools and machines are in good working condition; report any needed repairs.
Follow health and safety regulations; use cleaning products safely and effectively.

Serve this school in the position and in the specific duties assigned by the Principal. Established policies rules and regulations expressed by the school and the Principal shall be part of the professional procedure together with the applicable rules and regulations of the Washington State Department of Education the Archdiocese of Seattle applicable Canon Law and the local School Commission.
