We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Principal Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. As a member of the Data Science Chapter you will work within our agile squads to drive impactful projects and initiatives. Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
Driving proactive strategic decision-making by independently identifying market opportunities anticipating technical challenges and developing innovative solutions that align with business objectives rather than simply executing predefined instructions or waiting for direction from senior leadership
Owning the end to end technical roadmap of a product.
Crafting and executing data-driven solutions to Inventory and Forecasting in Store Operations leveraging advanced analytical methods to maximise efficiency and outcomes for stakeholders.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams including Machine Learning Engineering Data Engineering and Data Platform groups to understand business requirements deliver data-driven solutions and enhance data capabilities.
Designing and conducting experiments to test hypotheses validate findings and ensure rigorous data science execution covering scoping building testing implementation maintenance tracking and optimisation of predictive models.
Communicating findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensuring data-driven decisions are well-understood.

Must have:
Strategic leadership: You demonstrate ability to strategically lead a workstream owning the technical roadmap and applying system-level thinking.
Communication / Team work: You excel in collaborating within a complex team environment managing relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders. You maintain clear and consistent communication in a remote setup using digital tools to foster teamwork and inclusivity.
Growth mindset: A strong desire to learn and continuously improve embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and adapting to new information and approaches.
AI usage proficiency: You use AI tools and platforms to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
Proficiency in all stages of the Data Science lifecycle and relevant tooling (e.g. Python SQL Common modelling approach)
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure.
Highly regarded but not essential
Mentorship: Guide other team members fostering skill development and encouraging a collaborative learning environment.
Proven experience in building and optimising a variety of predictive models in commercial environments preferably with exposure to demand forecasting.
Expertise in Inventory Management will be highly regarded but not essential.
Experience working for retail business will be highly regarded but not essential.
