Middle School Robotics Coach Fall 2025
(FIRST LEGO League Challenge)
Description:
Under the direction of the K-8 STEM Director coaches will work in teams of one or two to supervise a twice weekly after school robotics program for grades 4-8 (ages 9-14). FIRST LEGO League (FLL) introduces students to the excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence and valuable life skills. After School Robotics Program Instructors will guide student teams to think like scientists and engineers as they design build and program a LEGO SPIKE PRIME robot to solve a particular STEM challenge in preparation for the MA FLL competition in Revere in December.
Working Time/Modality:
- Two sessions per week @ designated school between Sept 15th - December 5th (25 total sessions Thanksgiving week will only have 1 session)
- Qualifier Day - Potentially Saturday Dec 6th we will need for exact dates to be released
- Potential State-wide Championship Day 12/13/25
Requirements:
- Current EPS Teacher
- Must be available for every meeting time as well as Potential Qualifier Tournament Day (12/6*) and Potential Championship Day (12/13*)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robotics and/or programming
- Experience with guiding students through hands-on problem solving
- Enthusiasm for STEM and ability to model a resourceful can-do mindset
Compensation: $2960 (74 hours Based on $40/hour) includes prep time to meet with mentors and competition days (does not include State championship)
- Please note: If teams make it to the state championship there will be an additional stipend to cover 3 practice sessions and 1 full day of the championship tournament totalling $600 for 15 additional hours of work.
Number of Positions: 10 (two coaches for each K-8 School: Lafayette Madeline English Keverian Parlin and Whittier)
