Position Summary
The Head of Mid-Size Countries (MSC) position will play a pivotal role in establishing our presence (fit for purpose) in MSCs where we intend to launch and ensure successful launch of our product (and any follow-on products) in those addition the Head of MSC will also be responsible for selecting on-boarding and managing Distributor partners that will launch Acadias products in selected EU countries where Acadia will not operate directly. Reporting directly to the SVP GM of Europe this position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operations and driving commercial success in those markets.
Primary Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop collaborate on and implement strategic cross-functional plans for launching and commercializing the rare disease drug in selected MSCs ensuring alignment with overall company objectives global brand strategy allocated resources and market dynamics.
- Market Entry Strategy: Identify target segments within the MSC markets and develop comprehensive market entry strategies considering regulatory requirements reimbursement landscape competitive landscape and patient access pathways. Develop market access strategy with the support of Regional Market Access as well as local market access vendors. Successfully drive access and reimbursement.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing Sales Medical Affairs & Patient Advocacy Market Access Regulatory Affairs and Supply Chain to execute launch plans effectively and achieve business objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: In close collaboration with Medical Affairs build and maintain strong external networks and relationships with key stakeholders including healthcare professionals patient advocacy groups regulatory agencies and payers in the selected MSC markets to drive awareness education and access to the rare disease alignment with the Government Affairs and Market Access report on relevant developments in health policy initiatives in MSC markets and design & implement relevant stakeholder engagement/initiatives plan
- Team Leadership: Recruit develop and manage a high-performing team of professionals to support the MSC countries operations providing leadership guidance and mentorship to ensure team success.
- Selection and onboarding of distributor partners for certain European markets
- Financial Management: Develop and manage the cross-functional cluster P&L incl. of budgets forecasts and financial targets for the MSC operations ensuring optimal allocation of approved resources and delivering on financial goals.
- Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and company policies in the respective MSC countries maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity in all business activities.
Education/Experience/Skills
Advanced degree in a Life Science pharma biotech Business Administration or other related area. Targeting 15 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role overseeing commercial operations above the country level. Fluent in English and preferably at least one local (MSC) languages. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
Key Skills:
- Proven track record of successfully launching and commercializing pharmaceutical products in MSC markets preferably in the rare disease or specialty pharmaceutical space.
- Preferably has successfully worked with distributor partners in the past in EU and/or beyond
- Strong understanding of the MSC healthcare systems regulatory requirements pharmaceutical promotional regulations and market access pathways.
- Successfully launched products with an established track record in small/medium and multi-small/medium organizations.
- Experience in rare disease including pediatric neurology and/or psychiatry.
- Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute innovative market strategies to drive commercial success in MSCs.
- In addition to fluency in English mastery of German Greek Dutch and/or Polish are considered an advantage
- Willingness to travel throughout Europe. Ability to travel US headquarters as needed.
