Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) is in constant evolution. We are now looking for a highly motivated associate who will contribute to the development and application of human-relevant bioassays.

The Research Associate will join our Ophthalmology Discovery Department located in Basel Switzerland. This group has a robust early development portfolio in both retinal and anterior segment diseases and works closely with internal and external experts across many specialties.

The Opportunity

  • Design and execution of experimental work and conduct data analysis.

  • Generate functional cellular assays2D and/or 3D cell culture systems for disease relevant models of ocular diseases.

  • Assist with development and application of advanced in vitro microphysiological models.

  • Perform cell engineering via nucleic acid-based modalities.

  • Apply state of the art molecular technologies for in vitro or ex vivo analysis such as:

    • ex-vivo tissue processing for protein analysis and tissue preparation

    • protein analysis and tissues preparation (Western blot ELISA FACS Luminex immunohisto-/ cytochemistry)

    • expression profiling (qPCR scRNA/snRNA library preparation)

    • microscopic image analysis (fluorescence microscopy high content imaging).

Who You Are

  • 3 years of experience in a research lab and an . or . degree in a related scientific field lab associate or similar education.

  • The ideal candidate is scientifically curious intellectually driven and eager to learn and apply innovative research tools including advanced human cellular models (e.g. 3D cultures organoids) and molecular analyses at cellular resolution.

  • Should demonstrate a can-do attitude be proactive in acquiring new skills and possess strong critical thinking and effective communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in standard lab equipment data analysis and storage tools (e.g. GraphPad Prism electronic lab notebooks G Suite)

  • Excellent skills in cell culture and tissue-derived cell isolation are essential.

You are a motivated research assistant with excellent scientific communication and organizational skills fully committed to team effort but able to work independently.
