At the Basel Drug Substance Manufacturing site 650 employees work on the production of innovative active ingredients for clinical and commercial our three production units MAB ADC and SUT you can expect exciting tasks in the biological production environment and valuable insights into GMP production from start to finish.

In this position you will be part of the Drug Substance organization. You are a member of the Site Leadership Team and are responsible for overseeing the end-to-end Make Assess Release (MAR) process of a specified technology within the given site through the given scope of production.
The Manufacturing Unit Lead will be fully accountable for all critical metrics and outcomes of the Manufacturing Unit ensuring alignment with DS strategic goals including Right First Time (RFT) On-Time Delivery (OLT) cost management and maintaining an engaged workforce. This role involves building and leading a forward-thinking approach in collaboration with stakeholders and other Unit Leads encompassing the network site and Manufacturing Unit. Additionally the Manufacturing Unit Lead is responsible for creating an environment conducive to robust manufacturing execution and continuous improvement.
Your main accountabilities will include:
Collaborating with peers to balance requirements across ones own and other Manufacturing Units removes barriers within and across Units
Ensuring Supply Chain resilience and agility for fast time-to-launch
Responsible for the management of the discretionary Manufacturing budget
Leading a multi-disciplinary cross-functional team with a wide range of expertise (including Operators Mechanics Quality functional specialists) and multiple hierarchical levels to ensure right- first-time and a short order lead-time by implementing a customer-oriented lean end-to-end mentality
People leadership of cross-functional teams within the Manufacturing Unit in accordance with the Roche People Practices
Ensuring succession planning is completed i.e. for the area of responsibility identify key positions review regularly having potential succession candidates identified and job profiles up to date
Ensuring that all business-critical resources expertise capabilities and mindset are available
Collaborating with the PT network and site partners to ensure overall PTM production strategy and commitments are met
Do you bring several years of relevant bio /pharmaceutical experience including cross-functional group management and end-to-end Pharma business execution expertise and are you looking for an impactful roleWe are seeking an individual with a fundamental working knowledge of safety quality systems and quality assurance concepts including the application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). You bring a Lean mindset and you are an end-to-end thinker with a focus on continuous improvement. This entails the ability to implement coach and apply Lean and agile ways of working.
The Manufacturing Unit Lead must have the ability to inspire change without relying on positional authority and a proven experience in working across functions to achieve deployment addition you bring strong capability in building clarity and focus along with the ability to remove obstacles that hinder the achievement of the shared vision which are essential.
BS/BA degree in life sciences physical sciences engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Post Graduate-level course work including management training (e.g. an MBA) is favorable
Strong creative leadership skills according to the Visionary Architect Coach Catalyst (VACC) model and shown ability to build a forward-thinking outlook; remove barriers develop people and technical capabilities; build an environment which enables people to perform at their best
Organizational change management expertise and experience in the creation of a long-term vision for a respective department
Ability to deliver at a high level in an environment that exhibits significant ambiguity and the absence of precedent
Outstanding communication skills (English and German) at both a global and local level to include presenting to regulatory authorities as needed
