Product Owner / Energy Modeller
About
We are a fast-growing startup building software that helps organisations plan and optimise the transition to a low-carbon energy system. Our tools bring together data on buildings, energy infrastructure, and transport to support smarter energy planning and connection management.
As a young company, we work in a culture of trust and delegated decision-making, offering plenty of scope for career progression. The person who joins this role will have the opportunity to take on greater commercial leadership responsibilities over the next two years.
The Role
We re looking for an analytical and motivated Product Owner / Energy Modeller to join our product team. You ll collaborate with clients, users, developers, and data scientists to design optimisation methods for energy scenario modelling, dataset creation, and forecasting.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to combine strong technical modelling skills with product leadership, shaping how advanced modelling is embedded into software that underpins the net-zero transition.
Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and interpret user requirements from stakeholders such as utilities, local government, consultants, and developers.
  • Develop, test, and refine optimisation algorithms to address energy modelling challenges.
  • Work closely with developers and data scientists to integrate modelling outputs into cloud-based software tools.
  • Create documentation and user guidance suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitor and share insights on industry trends, data modelling approaches, and energy forecasting.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • A numerate degree (e.g. physics, engineering, computer science, or similar).
  • 1 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
Desirable
  • Familiarity with energy technologies, energy scenario modelling, or forecasting.
  • Experience managing or mentoring others.
  • Awareness of product management practices in software development.
Other Details
  • Remote-first team, with occasional opportunities for in-person collaboration in the UK.
