The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting for a Fish and Game Program Technician located in Bethel!
What you will be doing:
This is an essential position with diverse tasks located in Bethel Alaska. This position coordinates the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Working Group and assists with all aspects of Fish and Game work from interacting with the public to field projects. We are looking for a full-time year-round employee in Bethel who is interested in fishing and hunting and wants to work in a small office setting.

This is a full-time hourly position 37.5 hours per week with health and retirement benefits that is eligible for overtime pay. This position is the front line for the Bethel Fish and Game office assisting the public with questions issuing fishing and hunting licenses explaining regulations and assisting with logistical and field support. This position also coordinates the Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Working Group which was established in 1988 to coordinate local fishers to advise management biologists.
The working conditions you can expect:
This position is in Bethel with a small office environment. Work is mostly inside and often clerical in nature however some travel may be required to assist with camp set up resupplies survey work or to attend or facilitate meetings.
Requires daily use of a computer scanner fax machine and pickup truck.
Preference experience with fishing and hunting.
Requires occasional travel to remote field camps or flights in small aircraft.
Requires ability to stay calm and respectful in tense situations.
Requires graduated from High School or GED.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for someone with customer service experience who is an excellent written and verbal communicator. They should be comfortable using computers with the Microsoft Suite (Word Excel Power Point). The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training for ADF&G specific tasks related to the Working Group coordination surveys and field camp logistics and support. We are looking for someone who can be self-motivated while working alone and also work well as part of a small team.

Special Note:
A valid drivers license is required.
This position may be in possession of or have access to firearms/ammunition.
First Aid/CPR. For those not already certified training will be provided by the department at no cost to the employee.
Two years of office clerical experience or technical experience related to fish wildlife or habitat resources;
OR
One year of experience providing advanced clerical services based on established procedures precedents and policies in administrative informative and/or programmatic functions. This experience includes work such as an Office Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester or 4 quarter hours equal one month of experience).
