As a Lecturer in Optometric Practice (Education-focused) you will:

  • Lead unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other teaching teams in the Optometry program School and Faculty to develop effective unit curricula and learning materials.
  • Lead and/or support in applying industry clinical practice management knowledge and experience into student learning experiences success engagement and development of resources.
  • Deliver effective teaching practices within unit and suggest approaches to innovate teaching practices applying latest industry clinical practice management knowledge to improve student success and engagement.
  • Lead the delivery of the optometric practice and business management unit.
  • Provide high quality and timely administrative and practice management service activities in Deakins Collaborative Eye Care Clinic.
  • Provide academic support to students within units and courses and work collaboratively to improve student support services to optimise student outcomes.
  • Develop effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level. Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes.

To be successful youll have:

  • Bachelors level qualification in cognate field of learning (Business Optometry or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in a university environment and business management experience
  • Record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs.
  • Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching and administration.
  • Ability to work with partners at the University government external organisations and professional bodies.
