About the team
Our Firmware Engineering team is the bridge between hardware and software the part that makes everything click. We focus on Roku Players building everything from low-level drivers to features that touch the user interface. Its a technically rich environment where youll get to solve real-world problems across multiple platforms.
We work across time zones and continents but were deeply collaborative. Were flexible by design - tech evolves fast and we love to keep pace. What unites us is a shared drive to ship clean reliable high-performance code that makes streaming seamless and joyful for millions of users.

About the role
As a Senior Engineer youll help build the embedded software systems that power Rokus devices. Youll be working deep in the stack on everything from the bootloader up to performance-critical features of Roku OS. Youll shape how our products interact with hardware scale across platforms and stay blazing fast.
Youll also collaborate across disciplines: working with product managers to align on goals partnering with QA to ensure rock-solid releases and teaming up with hardware vendors to bring our next-gen products to life.
Were Excited If You Have
- Extensive Embedded C/C experience and a strong track record of building fast reliable embedded systems
- A deep understanding of how devices work from bootloaders and firmware updates to SoC components
- Performance mindset - you write clean efficient code that runs smoothly and scales easily
- Hands-on Linux experience plus familiarity with open-source tooling and workflows
- Great communication and collaboration skills with a self-directed proactive way of working
WhatYoull Be Doing
- Building features from the ground up design it code it own it through to release
- Solving real hardware-software challenges working deep in the stack across multiple Roku devices
- Collaborating across teams - QA PMs and hardware vendors to launch high-quality features fast
- Optimising for performance using tools and metrics to keep everything running smooth and fast
- Sharing your knowledge from thoughtful code reviews to maintaining technical docs and team know-how
