Squiala Elementary School provides a holistic learning environment that accepts and appreciates the uniqueness of each a culturally responsive and rich environment it is our goal to instill confidence and independence in our students by empowering physical social spiritual and mental growth. Squiala Elementary School is a First Nation band school and we hold our traditional cultural practices and language close to our hearts. We believe our children deserve the right to practice St:l cultural ways of life. Culture and the Halqemylem language are integrated throughout the weekly class schedules. Elder and Cultural Workers provide this service to the students and cultural resources are available to teachers.

- You can work with students on a one-to-one or small group basis to reinforce instruction by teacher.
- You enjoy collaborating with a team of professionals to create engaging educational experiences.
- You are a passionate excited team member who has the energy to keep up with our busy students.
- You pick up on situational cues and adjust in the moment as well as understand that different situations may call for different and creative approaches.
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You have one or more years of experience in assisting in a classroom environment.
- You have knowledge of/experience with psychosocial issues of special needs students.
- You are able to apply behaviour management strategies to given situations.
Through cooperation with the Squiala First Nation Community Centre Squiala Elementary School enjoys a new school building as well as a full-size gymnasium work-out room sports field with playground garden and greenhouse. Squiala Elementary School also offers its students bussing services breakfast and lunch programs and has on-site social workers as well as a Special Education Teacher Play Therapist Physical Therapist and Speech & Language Pathologist. Squiala First Nation is also happy to provide its staff with a pension plan and health benefits program after a three-month probationary period.
