Job Summary


Manages staff and activities related to the Sales & Operations Process.This position is accountable for managing and stabilizing supply and demand within the facility. This position ensures that material is available and flows according to the production schedule and develops the constrained S&OP forecast aligning tactics with the long-term product capacity.

What You Will Do

  • Coordinating with multiple functions such as manufacturing product group marketing material planning etc. to acquire appropriate requirements to meet customer demand.

  • Participating in planning inventory and defining optimal inventory levels and adjustment authority; monitoring inventory levels.

  • Ensures that production schedules maintain demand and sequence integrity and provide proper product availability to dealers/customers while balancing manufacturing constraint issues and ROA objectives.

  • This position maximizes customer satisfaction through order administration and develops the constrained S&OP forecast aligning tactics with the long-term product capacity and working closely with the Global Supplier Constraint Management team to schedule considering capacity constraints and enterprise material allocation rules.

  • Provides availability administration including demand management special order programs responding to critical deals quoting delivery for large projects etc. Prepares scheduling proposals to accommodate special situations such as strike hedge plans or reviewing costs and consequences of layoffs carrying inventory using plant shutdowns etc.

  • Oversees analysis and development of complex attachment forecasts utilizing the latest tools available to compensate for changes in dealer ordering behavior. Monitors attachment inventory daily and develops schedules to achieve inventory turns goals while maintaining good availability on key attachments to compensate for order changes and diversions from stock inventory.

  • This position identifies areas/projects requiring attention develops priorities identifies work plans for staff and coordinates review of projects with facility management.

  • Manages a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is as well as training developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.

  • Consults on conversion and retirement of core systems.

  • Monitors industry for new approaches to applications development and implementation.

  • Ensures that appropriate back-up recovery and contingency plans are in place for core applications.

  • Conceptualizes and describes high-level data flows between core systems.

  • Offers both historical and predictive perspectives on core applications.

Operational Functions:

  • Documents regulatory and reporting requirements.

  • Assesses situations based on awareness of the goals and operating issues of own department.

  • Seeks guidance when assigned goals conflict with departmental goals or overall strategy.

  • Carries out responsibilities that contribute to role of own department within the organization.

Planning: Tactical Strategic:
Level Working Knowledge

  • Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term) tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

  • Anticipates and adapts to plan changes.

  • Monitors progress of work against plan as to meet objectives.

  • Reports variances and makes agreed-upon corrections.

  • Under guidance develops tactical plan for own direct responsibility.

Process Management:

Level Working Knowledge

  • Employs process flows cycle time process time and waste concepts as appropriate.

  • Walks through and documents steps decisions measurements dependencies and hand-offs for a specific process.

  • Identifies and monitors common process bottlenecks.

Supply Chain Management:
Level Working Knowledge

  • Recognizes software systems or components used to manage supply chain.

  • Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.

  • Summarizes supply chain considerations for different types of products.

  • Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain and/or Logistics Management or Industrial Engineering

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and people leadership (salaried and hourly)

  • Familiarity with Manufacturing facilities processes and equipment

  • Experience in Plant scheduling Forecasting and Demand Planning tools

  • Knowledge / Understanding of 6 Sigma Project Management principles

Additional Information

  • This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office.

  • Travel up to 10% is possible.

  • Relocation is NOT available for this role.

Summary Pay Range:

$110520.00 - $165840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
