Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Families First Parenting Practitioner on a 4-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 13.17 - 16.72 per hour

Summary:

The Families First Parenting Practitioner will deliver direct services to children young people and their families/carers in line with national and local legislation Families First guidance and best practice standards. The postholder will lead and co-facilitate positive parenting programmes provide targeted one-to-one interventions and support parents/carers to develop skills and confidence in order to improve outcomes for their children and families. Working in partnership with families and external agencies the practitioner will promote positive parenting approaches safeguard children and young people and contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Families First service.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver positive parenting support advice and programmes in partnership with parents/carers and wider agencies.
  • Act as lead facilitator for parenting programmes co-facilitating with colleagues and external partners where appropriate.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based tools to engage parents carers and families in positive change.
  • Ensure compliance with the Councils financial regulations standing orders policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and Council policies ensuring the safety of yourself and others.

Essentials:

  • Good standard of education (minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare social care youth work family support or a related field).
  • Direct experience of working with children young people and families in a support social care or family intervention role.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable or at-risk families to improve outcomes.

Please note:

  • You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
