Job Summary: The Genetic Counselor Lead serves as a clinical leader mentor and operational coordinator within the Division of Medical Genetics. This role provides advanced genetic counseling services oversees the day-to-day management of program operations and supports departmental initiatives in clinical care research education and business development. The GC Lead position also provides daily operational oversight reporting and problem-solving while mentoring junior staff and trainees in genetics. Primary duties and responsibilities: Leadership & Program Management 1. Provides day-to-day management of program operations including external sites and specialty areas. 2. Serves as team leader and mentor to junior Genetic Counselors and Genetic Counselor Assistants. 3. Establishes and implements clinic/program priorities practices policies and procedures in collaboration with departmental leadership. 4. Provides daily operational guidance on behalf of Genetics covering inpatient outpatient and laboratory services. 5. Reports monthly volume numbers and staffing analysis needs to division leadership. 6. Assesses operational challenges identifies root causes and develops solutions to ensure efficiency and quality of service delivery. 7. Supports marketing and business development initiatives including in-service training and development of educational/marketing materials. 8. Coordinates and provides training and education for Genetic Counseling students interns residents fellows and volunteers. Clinical Responsibilities: 1. Provides comprehensive genetic counseling services to individuals and families in a variety of clinical programs such as: General Genetics Clinics Metabolic Disease Clinics Specialty Clinics Prenatal/Preconception Clinics Cancer Risk Assessment Clinics Outreach Clinics Newborn Screening Program Nutrition Program Lysosomal Storage Disease Program and Infusion Center 2. Supports genetic laboratory operations including diagnostic test coordination result reporting and patient/client consultation. Research & Professional Development: 1. Participates in genetic research initiatives as required by program leaders. 2. Supports clinical and research initiatives through local regional or national presentations publications and teaching. Travel: Less than 10% of the time may be required. Work Type: Hybrid employee - splits time between working remotely and working in the office. Minimum Required Qualifications: Education Masters degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited ABGC training program Experience - Five years of experience as a genetic counselor. Licensure Board certification as a Genetic Counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling Certification BLS Knowledge skills and abilities (required): - This role requires a proactive approach in developing innovative solutions to improve processes enhance patient satisfaction and streamline communication across diverse teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium Max 25lbs): up to 25 lbs. 0-33% of the work day (occasionally) Lifting 25 lbs. max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs.; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
