The Role
The UKI Infrastructure andPlatform team provide core services to our product and technology teams to enable them to have delivery and execution independence.As a Senior Platform Engineer in the Flutter UKI Infrastructure and Platform team your role is crucial for maintaining and evolving the organisations technology infrastructure to enhance our consumers enablement. Responsibilities include platform design development and maintenance system monitoring and optimisation capacity planning infrastructure automation security and compliance incident management and support mentoring team members and collaboration with areas outside of the team.The team functions as a 24/7 operational support unit with on-call availability.
What Youll Be Doing
Demonstrates Excellent Knowledge of Infrastructure & Platforms Systems: Applies comprehensive understanding of group engineering systems managementas key responsibility involves designing implementing and maintaining the Flutter UKI platform infrastructure. This includes both the development of new platforms and the enhancement of existing ones to meet evolving business needs.
Driving Improvements: Proactively drive and contribute to opportunities to improve processes adopt new technologies and enhance the reliability performance and security of the platform as well as contribute to the cloud cost management plans
Automation Contributor: Actively seeks and spearheads opportunities to implement automation solutions and practices to reduce reliance on manual processesand promotes selfservice
Ownership :Exhibit ownership of squad deliverables demonstrating a sense of responsibility and accountability. Lead and take charge of a work stream orincident includingthe creation and maintenance ofall relevant documentation.
Mentorship: Act as a mentor to other members in the squad actively sharing knowledge and teaching skills.
Role Modelling: Serve as a role model both behaviourally and in terms of capabilities inspiring Associate/Graduate Engineers through their actions.
Consistency: Demonstrate a highly performant delivery approach providing a reliable and solid pair of hands in all tasks.
Stakeholder Management: Exhibit comfort in engaging with non-technical stakeholders showcasing effective communication and high-level engagement.
Collaboration: Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with other teams such as development and operations. Youll work closely with these teams on initiatives embracing and providing feedback with a positive attitude.
What Youll Bring
Experience with managing the following technologies:
- Splunk
- Vault
- Sensu
Experience coding with:
- Python
- Ruby
- Golang
Strong knowledgeofPlatformEngineeringPrincipals
Strong knowledge of using the supported products in a production environment:
- CDK
- Kubernetes/Docker
- Networking
- AWS
- Git
- Jenkins (or similar CI system)
- Configuration Management (Chef Ansible)
- General Linux operations.
- Infrastructure Specific Products (Virtualization Storage technologies Hardware appliances)
Wed Like You To Master In
Aptitude for evaluating and embracing new technologies and tooling.
Experience with managing high-load high-performance applications.
AWS experience supporting cloud native infrastructure through tooling and automation.
Able to input into the ways of working and structure of the squad
Develop engineers
Identify and fill skills gaps.
Strong People and communication skills.
