Overview
We are seeking a seasoned commercial leader to drive growth in India for a global scientific equipment company. This role will be responsible for leading sales and marketing activities strengthening distributor and customer relationships and building service support capabilities to elevate customer experience. The Commercial Manager will play a critical part in shaping business development increasing market penetration and ensuring the company’s long-term success in one of the region’s most important markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business strategies that support overall regional growth objectives while tailoring them to the dynamics of the Indian market.
- Take ownership of country sales and revenue targets designing business plans to meet or exceed annual performance goals.
- Build guide and support distributor partnerships to maximize market coverage and strengthen customer engagement.
- Deepen relationships with key accounts balancing a mix of technical seminars workshops and digital platforms to broaden customer outreach.
- Gather analyze and report market intelligence to identify opportunities anticipate competitive activity and provide actionable insights to management.
- Drive improvements in customer experience by working with regional and local teams to enhance service delivery and progressively establish local service offerings such as maintenance repairs and contracts.
- Collaborate across internal teams at regional and global levels to ensure the effective execution of initiatives and alignment with company objectives.
- Provide management with regular updates on sales performance business opportunities and market conditions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant trade regulations customs processes and internal governance requirements.
- Travel within India and occasionally across the region (up to 50%) to engage with customers distributors and internal stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in Science Engineering or related field; advanced qualifications are an advantage.
- At least 10 years of experience in sales or commercial leadership roles ideally within scientific or analytical instrumentation.
- Strong track record of managing distributors and developing new business opportunities in India.
- Commercially astute with the ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Excellent communicator with the presence to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfortable working independently with sound judgment and a problem-solving mindset.
- Fluent in English with strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
