Job Description

Head Coach Esports (East High School)

EastHigh School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as the Head Coach for Esports. This position is vital to the continued growth and success of the program and plays an important role in fostering competitive excellence personal development teamwork citizenship and school pride.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous coaching or competitive Esports experience (preferred but not required)

  • Experience working with high school students in an educational mentorship or extracurricular setting

  • Knowledge of a variety of popular Esports titles (e.g. League of Legends Rocket League Super Smash Bros. Overwatch etc.) with the ability to coach players across a range of skill levels

  • Strong organizational communication and leadership skills

  • Understanding of digital safety online conduct and strategies for building a positive team culture in both in-person and virtual environments

  • Ability to support and develop students participating in both off-season and spring season play

  • Experience collaborating with school administrators parents and students to achieve program goals

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee all aspects of the Esports program including budgeting travel practices competitions fundraising banquets and off-season activities

  • Foster a positive inclusive and safe team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship teamwork and digital citizenship

  • Provide instruction and strategies to improve player skills teamwork and competitive performance

  • Manage team logistics including scheduling practices coordinating competitions and ensuring compliance with UHSAA and district policies

  • Monitor academic performance and support student-athletes in maintaining eligibility requirements

  • Communicate effectively with players parents school administration and the broader community regarding program updates and expectations

  • Ensure proper use care and security of Esports equipment facilities and technology

  • Uphold all district school and UHSAA guidelines related to student safety conduct and program management

Required Certifications/Trainings

All trainings and requirements must be completed upon job offer and prior to beginning coaching responsibilities.

  • Aktivate trainings completed through

  • Completion of all school and district trainings coaching agreements and head coach requirements

  • Compliance with all UHSAA standards and guidelines

  • Utah Educator Professional Standards (Read and E-sign)

  • SLCSD Vector Trainings (to be completed after hire and prior to coaching)

Upon appointment SLCSD FERPA/Student Privacy trainings will also be required. For questions regarding this position please contact the schools Principal or Athletic Director.
