Join our team in Albany as aFinancial Counsellor you will provide a financial counselling service that aims to relieve monetary pressures experienced by clients in financial hardship. You will provide assistance to clients to gain an understanding of their own financial situation and to access appropriate support services. You will support clients to make informed decisions and take action as well as advocate and negotiate with creditors on their behalf. By doing so you will be instrumental in building our clients financial resilience and achieving financial stability

This position offers a flexible work arrangement allowing for remote work with ideally occasional visits to our Albany office. You will deliver services over the phone ensuring that clients receive the support they need from the comfort of their own homes. While the role can be performed remotely having the capacity to visit the Albany office a few times throughout the contract period would be advantageous for the ongoing delivery and support of community education projects.



Skills And Experiences

You are a passionate individual who is driven to deliver a quality service for our be successful you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A diploma in Financial Counselling OR relevant experience in community services with willingness to achieve diploma qualification.
  • Eligibility for accredited membership with the Financial Counsellors Association of WA
  • High levels of financial numeracy
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated capacity for advocacy and successful outcome negotiation
  • Great working knowledge of both credit procedures used by major utilities and the legal processes involved in debt recovery and income maintenance
  • Ability to work in cross cultural situations and especially with Aboriginal people
  • Experience working independentlywith minimal supervision as wellas part of a team
  • Well-developed computer skills (Office 365 and client management systems)
