The Senior Claims Analyst is responsible for but not limited to analysing and processing claims under the applicable (re)insurance contracts leading claims audits providing analysis to underwriters and reserving actuaries and participate in and lead (as required) collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company including finance actuarial operations and technology. This role will lead/support with the preparation of management reporting on respective claims addition the Senior Claims Analyst supports the Underwriters on any claims related interactions with cedents and brokers.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Actively handle claims arising from a variety of classes of business including Casualty Specialty and Property.
Investigate and handle all claims in accordance with company standards and procedures.
Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure claims systems are kept up to date in a timely manner.
Promote compliance with best practice for all aspects of claims management.
Support with developing (re)insurance knowledge within team.
Participate in renewal meetings with Underwriters as required.
Provide feedback to Underwriters from a Claims perspective.
Participate in client visits and leading audits as required.
Represent the company at market meetings and on market committees and attend company sponsored training events.
Ensures all handled claims are properly processed and reserved. Ensures alignment and compliance with Global reserving practices and strategy.
Participate in claims audits.
Support with evaluating training advising and mentoring the claims staff and providing technical expertise to the claims and underwriting process that will enable underwriters and actuaries to better assess and rate their contracts and submissions.
Strategic Projects
Identifies opportunities for process improvement and enhancement at the local level and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of the functional area.
EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:
A bachelors or university degree preferred or comparable relevant experience.
A professional qualification preferred (CPCU/ARe or similar)
At least 3 to 5 years prior relevant industry experience
Fully proficient has in-depth knowledge works independently on moderate to high complex matters.
Utilises solid technical competence to achieve exemplary results and to manage and resolve issues.
Proactively identifies resources actions and timelines needed to achieve objectives.
Shares resources appropriately and balances the needs of the total department with individual goals and priorities.
Conveys points of view/positions in a way that influences opinions and demonstrates flexibility in adapting personal style to different individuals.
Proactively shares relevant information to keep others in the loop on important issues updates priorities new developments and results.
Makes improvements of processes systems products or solutions to enhance performance of the department or job area.
Responds to and troubleshoots moderate to highly complex inquiries/issues both internally and externally.
Applies knowledge globally.
Knowledge of ECF/IMR and core business systems Outlook Word Excel.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and other relevant GAAP as applicable
Experience with public companies and SOX 404 is advantageous
Additional requirements:
Candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and experience of claims handling processes and practices in addition to having a detailed understanding of the legal landscape relevant to their jurisdiction.
In addition candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and understanding both of technical claims matters and legal aspects for those jurisdictions where it anticipated claims will arise (US/Continental Europe/UK/Asia Pacific - dependent upon role location).
