The Software Engineer III will provide advanced software engineering support to the Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC). This position requires expertise in the design development testing and integration of software systems in support of DoD tactical communications software defined radios (SDRs) and waveform applications. The candidate will contribute to full software lifecycle activities and ensure compliance with DoD acquisition cybersecurity and interoperability standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design develop and test software systems to support JTNC operations ensuring compliance with DoD standards and requirements.
Develop and maintain software solutions including applications for tactical radios waveforms and SDR systems.
Support the development and refinement of test plans test procedures and automated test capabilities for waveform and SDR conformance evaluations.
Perform technical analyses of software systems and contribute to capability characterizations assessments and evaluations.
Develop and maintain technical documentation including Software Development Plans (SDP) Software Design Descriptions (SDD) and Test and Evaluation reports.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineers RF engineers and cybersecurity specialists to ensure seamless system integration.
Provide software engineering support to integration laboratories for implementation and testing of Government Programs of Record (PoR) and COTS/NDI tactical communication systems.
Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) technical working groups and standards development forums as required.
Support continuous process improvements automation and implementation of best practices in software engineering.
Qualifications
Masters degree in Computer Electrical or Electronics Engineering Mathematics with a focus in Computer Science or a related technical field.
7 years of professional experience in computer design software development or computer networks.
Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as C C Java and scripting languages.
Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems tactical waveform implementations and DoD open systems architecture standards.
Knowledge of DoD acquisition regulations software lifecycle management and data rights requirements.
Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements including NIST RMF and NSA standards.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
Strong communication skills with the ability to develop technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
