The Supervisory Technical Writer will lead and oversee technical writing efforts in support of the Joint Tactical Networking Center (JTNC). This position is responsible for supervising technical writers coordinating documentation activities and ensuring that all technical documentation complies with Department of Defense (DoD) and JTNC standards guidelines and directives.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise a team of technical writers and ensure high-quality deliverables.
Coordinate the preparation review and publication of technical documents reports manuals and briefs in support of JTNC programs.
Ensure compliance with DoD and NAVWAR technical writing standards including formatting grammar and clarity requirements.
Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) engineers and program managers to produce clear concise and accurate documentation.
Oversee configuration management of technical documents ensuring proper version control and accessibility.
Support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Waveform Analysis Reports Technical Analysis Reports (TARs) and other program documentation required under the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
Ensure technical documents meet Section 508 compliance and security classification requirements including handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and classified material when applicable.
Review edit and finalize deliverables to ensure alignment with JTNC objectives and DoD policy requirements.
Provide mentorship training and performance evaluations for technical writing staff.
Collaborate with JTNC leadership to identify process improvements and implement best practices in documentation management.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in English Communications Technical Writing or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
7 years of technical writing experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Strong knowledge of DoD documentation standards including DoDI 4630.09 DoDI 5000.02 and related directives.
Experience supporting defense programs and working with classified materials (Secret clearance required; TS/SCI preferred).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite SharePoint and documentation tools.
Experience with Configuration Management (CM) practices and documentation lifecycle management.
Strong organizational analytical and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with Section 508 compliance requirements and technical editing best practices.
