As an Intake Coordinator/ Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) in a Substance Abuse Treatment Facility you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals on their journey to recovery from substance abuse.

The Intake Coordinator/ Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a dual-role position that provides direct client care and oversees the intake process for new admissions. This includes ensuring all required intake documentation is completed accurately and timely and that quality standards are maintained. The Intake Coordinator will also audit charts for compliance and follow up with BHTs to ensure the intake process is completed correctly. While this role operates during business hours coordination with evening/weekend staff if expected for after-hours intakes.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Full-Time Position
  • Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tasks / Responsibilities (To include but not limited to):

Follow company policies procedures and protocols

Provide day-to-day supervision support and structure for clients in the program.

Monitor and document client behaviors safety concerns and engagement in services.

Assist with daily routines transitions and provide crisis support as needed.

Communicate client needs and observations to the clinical and nursing teams.

Serve as the initial point of contact for incoming clients during regular hours providing a welcoming and professional introduction to the program.

Conduct intake assessments and complete all required documentation and consents.

Coordinate with nursing admissions and clinical teams to ensure efficient client onboarding.

Audit intake charts for completeness accuracy and compliance with policy.

Provide feedback and follow-up with BHTs regarding missing or incomplete documentation.

Track trends in charting errors and collaborate with leadership to improve training and processes.

Assist in maintaining high standards of documentation and regulatory compliance across the intake process.

Support after-hours staff by reviewing documentation the next business day and ensuring continuity.

To perform the job successfully an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

Medication Observation- The individual has a full understanding of the Medication Observation procedure and demonstrates the ability to carry out duties as assigned.

Quality managementthe individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in regard to EMR Documentation Infection Control and Waived Testing.

Documentation- the individual is able to navigate the EMR with ease. They have a core understanding of how the program runs whats important and what needs to be documented at what intervals.

Time Managementthe individual prioritizes and plans efficiently developing a realistic action plan in regard to their duties.

Safety and securitythe individual observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

Transportation- Individual displays the ability to safely transport clients to appointments as needed.



Requirements

Environmental/Physical Requirements:

Physical Demands the employee is frequently required to sit stand and walk; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Exposure to clients infected with Hepatitis B HIV TB or other Infectious Diseases


Preferred Experience/ Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred experience requirements may be satisfied through professional experience as determined by Human Resources at the time of hiring.


Education / Experience

High school diploma or GED preferred

Must pass mandatory pre-employment screenings check and tests.


Certificates and Licenses

Has CPR and First Aid certifications


Knowledge

Have or be able to be taught an acute understanding of counseling and other treatment procedures for alcoholism and drug and addiction-related problems.

Have or be able to be taught knowledge of regulations concerning alcoholism and drug addiction treatment.

Have or be able to be taught knowledge of alcoholism and drug addiction and treatment procedures for such illnesses.
