You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailSusTex an RGE-NTU Joint Research Centre on Sustainable Textile will evaluate and propagate innovative solutions to enable material circularity from urban waste back into the value chain. SusTex will provide a pioneering platform to translate advances in green chemistry artificial intelligence and materials science into solutions for sustainable textile recycling based on the framework of outcome engineering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on cellulose-based materials including fibercellulose composites and specialty cellulose product formulations. The role will involve designing and optimizing processes for material development functionalization and performance evaluation to support SusTexs research in sustainable textile recycling and material innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and optimize processes for cellulose-based material innovation including fibercellulose composites and specialty cellulose products.
Formulate and functionalize cellulose materials to enhance performance and application potential.
Characterize materials using standard physicochemical mechanical and structural analysis techniques.
Evaluate material performance in relation to durability processability and end-use requirements.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to innovate novel waste-to-resource cellulose-based materials/ products.
Prepare technical reports publications and presentations based on research outcomes.
Job Requirements:
PhD in Materials Science Polymer Chemistry Chemical Engineering or a related field with a focus on cellulose fibers or sustainable materials.
Proven experience in cellulose/ bio-based fiber chemistry fiber processing or composite formulation.
Experience in developing specialty products and working in compliance with industry standards will be considered highly advantageous.
Hands-on experience with material functionalization modification techniques and composite fabrication.
Strong understanding of structureproperty relationships in cellulose and fiber-based materials.
Proficient in physicochemical structural and mechanical characterization methods (e.g. Rheometer FTIR SEM tensile testing etc).
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
Excellent communication skills for reporting and presenting research findings.
Experience in translating lab-scale formulations to industrial-grade products.
