The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains (BGCNP) is committed to inspiring and enabling all young people especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive responsible and caring citizens. Our early childhood enrichment programs serve children from six weeks to five years of age providing safe inclusive and developmentally appropriate environments that foster lifelong learning and success.
Position Summary:
The Regional Director of Early Childhood Enrichment is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall operations of two Clubhouse Units located in Brookings and Flandreau which are part of the larger BGCNP organization. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality early childhood programming supervises site-level Childcare Center Directors/Coordinators and an Early Childhood Specialist. The Regional Director also leads efforts to align curriculum staffing and operations with best practices and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage daily operations across both Clubhouse Units ensuring consistency quality and compliance.
- Supervise Childcare Center Directors/Coordinators in Brookings and Flandreau providing mentorship performance management and operational guidance.
- Oversee the Early Childhood Specialist to support instructional excellence staff development and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all programs meet or exceed state and federal licensing requirements.
- Guide the development and implementation of curriculum aligned with South Dakota Early Learning Guidelines.
- Manage budgets staffing plans and resource allocation across both units.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families staff and community partners.
- Promote trauma-informed practices and culturally inclusive programming with a focus on serving tribal families and dual-language households.
- Lead recruitment onboarding and professional development for early childhood staff.
- Monitor program outcomes and implement strategies for improvement.
- Represent BGCNP in community and regional early childhood initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in early childhood education with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Demonstrated understanding of rural childcare systems and trauma-informed care.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and foster inclusive environments.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development curriculum standards and licensing regulations.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with tribal communities and dual-language households is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel between Brookings and Flandreau sites regularly.
- Capacity to observe interact and communicate effectively with children staff and families.
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.
