Enterprise Marketing and Communications isseeking to hire a Photographer.

ThePhotographer is responsible forcontributing to VCU Enterprise Marketing and Communications (EMC) visualstorytelling expertise by creating bold visualmessages thatinspireviewers to connect with theVCU enterprise brand. Thisposition reports to the Director of Video and Photography Services and the VCUHealth Video Production Manager and collaborates with cross functional teamsacross the VCU enterprise. The Photographer serves as a proactive champion foradvancing the VCU brand through creating compelling photographs and DSLR videothat shape favorable brand perceptions for VCU.

The Photographer position requires amulti-talented expert able to produce still photography ranging from high-endmarketing imagery that embodies the VCU and VCU Health System brand includingnews portraiture and basic news/social media video. The ideal candidate lovesvisual storytelling embodies creativity thinks outside the box and canexecute high quality photography and video with efficiency and professionalism.

Thisrole requires an ability to capture compelling moments for newsstories and portraits inspire creative partners concept still photographyideas collaborate with stakeholders and produce content for stakeholdersacross the university and health system. Its equal parts conceptual andexecutional -- with the ability to bring ideas big and small to life throughphotography and basic video. It requires a talent thats unafraid to pushcreative frontiers experiment and encourage others to do the same. ThePhotographer willcreate and produce high quality content for brandmarketing brand journalismowned websites social media platforms andvarious other media channels that meet the strategic needs of the universityand health system.

Core Functions

Candidates must possess a solid understandingof currentphotography and video techniques and trends that informstructuredstorytelling that moveviewers to connect with the VCUbrand.

Particular emphasis oncandidates demonstrated ability to create brand storytelling through exemplaryphotography skills.

A proficientcommunicator of visual creative strategy with the ability to provide take anddeliver on an approved creative direction.

Demonstrated abilityto create excellent environmental and studio portraits.

The ability to managemultiple photography and video news assignments with great attention to detail.

QualificationsMinimum qualifications and experience:

Minimum of five yearsprofessional experience in photography and DSLR video production.

Expertise in bothstudio and location lighting.

Strong knowledge ofdigital photography workflows including computer hardware/software fileformats color theory image management and enhancement techniques.

Proficient in workingwith raw digital files in a Mac-based environment and using Adobe Photoshop foradvanced post-production work.

Proficient in editingDSLR video for short news and social media stories using editing software suchas Premiere or Adobe Creative Suite or DaVinci Resolve or Photoshop.

Excellentcommunication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse universitycommunity.

A portfolio ofphotographic and video work where the applicant is the sole creator isrequired for consideration.

Ability to createshoot produce and edit photography and video content on a variety of themesincluding brand marketing branded news lifestyle education and social mediacontent.

Strong collaborativemindset able to partner effectively with creative and PR teams to meetproject goals.

Ensure all assets arealigned with the VCUs brand standards in tone style and personality.

Deep understanding ofvisual storytelling for news portraiture and social media with awareness ofcurrent trends and brand-building strategies.

Adaptable andcomfortable taking on varied responsibilities as needed.

Excellent digitalmedia file management.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment ofrespect professionalism and civility with a population of faculty staff andstudents from various backgrounds and experiences or a commitment to do so asa staff member at VCU.

Must be able to workflexible hours including nights and weekends.

Preferred qualifications

Bachelors degree orequivalent training and experience.

Seven years professionalexperience in photography and DSLR video production.

Experience capturingconceptual/marketing images for brand promotional purposes.

Experience capturingphotographs in a medical/clinical environment.
